About MMImedia and Dennis Whitehead

Dennis Whitehead is a writer, photographer and media producer in Arlington, VA. A graduate of Ohio University in Journalism, Whitehead worked with The Associated Press in the New York and Los Angeles bureaus before embarking on a freelance career in Washington, DC.

 

Specializing in photojournalism, Whitehead's photographs appeared in publications around the world, including The New York Times newspaper and Sunday Magazine, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News, Life, the German magazines Bunte, Focus and Freizeit Revue, and the Gannett group of newspapers. He was a regular contributor to Hubert Burda Media of Munich, Germany for whom he created and produced the executive report, Focus on Media, covering media news and trends for Burda executives and editors.

 

With broadcast production experience dating back to 16- and 35 millimeter film and three-quarter inch video. Whitehead was among the first to incorporate still photographs in video production. His work in documentary production evolved into producing videos for non-profit organizations, including NOVACO, Bridges to Independence and Habitat for Humanity.

 

Love and Sacrifice is the nonfiction book written by Whitehead with the true story of an American military family through the first half of the 20th century culminating in the WWII combat deaths of the father and his son on the European battlefields. Shifting to short reads, Shell Shock, the tragic WWI story of the Cromwell twins, is now published and will soon be joined by A Missing Star and an updated Day Before the War.
